Tips for Memorial Day Celebration

Each year on Memorial Day, we celebrate and remember those who have served our country in the armed forces. Churches and the news media recognize these individuals as some have given their lives.

My husband is a veteran. He served in the U.S. Air Force and piloting many jets during the Vietnam War. He is proud for his service to the United States and wish he would have remained in and retired in the military. Veteran’s and Memorial Day Holidays mean alot to him and his fellow servicemen.

Living in Texas has helped me to see how many people really admire and respect those who are in the military. They are respected high above anyone who has not served. Frankly, I am so very happy we’ve gotten to this today. It wasn’t too long ago when those who came back from Vietnam were mocked and criticized even discriminated against. It was back then that people were against the war and those who fought in it.

Although we still have some of those types today, at least our men and women who served are better respected. Some businesses even give military discounts and government assistance to those who are vets. That’s the way it should be and if ever you can experience being in the front lines, you won’t truly appreciate them for all they’ve done. We can only imagine.
